This book is just absolutely lovely, and I can’t believe it’s Shelby Van Pelt’s FIRST!ĭon’t make this a movie or TV show just let it exist as a lovely work of literature. This cast of characters contributes to the rich tapestry of people that make up the town of Sowell Bay. Set in the Pacific Northwest, this story follows a 70-something woman as she grapples with the death of her husband and what her sunset years will look like, and a young man who is determined to track down the father he’s never met. This is a multiple-POV book with one of the narrators being AN OCTOPUS! He will probably be your favorite character you’ve read in a while, so open your mind to the wacky and wonderful!!
